Mr. Wollett, aka Lady Lucy’s dad, has delivered this specially designed portrait cart to it’s new home in the front gallery at Spacex. Once Lucy has given it a dash of colour it’ll be out on the streets!

ARTIST RESIDENCIES
This spring Spacex is working with three UK-based artists to develop participatory projects in response to the socially and historically rich context of Exeter's West Quarter, where the gallery is located.
During a two-month residency, invited artists Amy Feneck, Volkhardt Muller and Lady Lucy will be facilitating collaborative encounters and conversations with people who live in Fore Street and the surrounding area.
Amy Feneck will be interviewing people in the area about the notion of ‘independent spirit’ in order to develop a script for her new work. Lady Lucy, will operate from her mobile portrait studio, documenting encounters with local residents. Her painted portraits will be viewable from the street as they accumulate in the front gallery at Spacex. Volkhardt Müller will work with people in the West Quarter to create a series of performed actions to be recorded on video.
The results of this research and collaboration will be on display at Spacex between Sat 24th April - Sat 1st May. During this week, a programme of evening events and discussions led by the artists in residence and local artist collectives will also be taking place. Full schedule to follow shortly.
This site will track the progress of the residencies, providing regular updates on all offsite activity as well as events taking place at the gallery with schools and colleges as part of the Random Acts of Art programme.
Also on this blog, South West-based artist Ben Langworthy will be inviting you to do something you weren’t expecting to do; with his illustrated manual on how to interact with the West Quarter. Ben will be uploading a new page of the online manual at regular intervals during the programme.
